How to reuse timber? The case of cross-laminated secondary timber

In October, Dr Colin Rose, winner of last year’s Flemming Bligaard Award, visited the Ramboll Sustainability Conference – Decarbonisation 2.0 to talk about his research into the use of Cross-laminated secondary timber (CLST).

Colin’s presentation was part of a broader discussion where sustainability experts from across Ramboll, clients and partners met in Copenhagen to discuss embodied and operational carbon, circular design and construction, and tools and methodologies in relation to the built environment.

In his research, which is partly funded by the Flemming Bligaard Award, Dr Colin Rose explores how timber can be reused as cross-laminated secondary timber (CLST). With the Award, Colin has taken further steps in demonstrating the technical and economic viability of CLST, while exploring the wider application of this approach to materials through collaboration with industry.
