A new philanthropic direction

Since 1972, we have been exclusively application-driven, focusing on smaller short-term philanthropic projects. During 2025, we are transitioning to a more proactive mission-driven and catalytic approach, where we support fewer projects and partners, but aim for bigger and more durable change.

As the owner of Ramboll, we aim to make a positive difference in our society through our ownership of Ramboll and through our philanthropic activities by supporting knowledge-creation to leverage innovation and engagement.

Mission-driven philanthropy

We seek to create more impact, relevance, and visibility within areas of significant societal importance.

Going forward, we will be supporting the following philanthropic areas:

  • Mission-driven activities. Our three new philanthropic missions are: Regenerative rebuilding; The built environment; and Resource management.
  • Opportunity-driven global grants. These include aid in emergencies and crises as well as employee-involving philanthropy.

When working with all three missions, the Foundation will take a long-term and catalytic approach to creating impact by supporting development and dissemination of knowledge and best practices.

We insist on actively engaging Ramboll employees and relevant partners in bringing together different ideas, talents, and perspectives to tackle societal challenges.

Supporting and rebuilding

With our new philanthropic ambition, we wish to work for a better society for people and nature and to contribute by addressing the major crises facing society with a regenerative approach that supports and rebuilds.

"We insist on actively engaging Ramboll employees and relevant partners in bringing together different ideas, talents, and perspectives to tackle societal challenges," says Søren Staugaard Nielsen.

In addition to our society-supporting philanthropy, we also support individual current and former Ramboll employees in need.

Part of our philanthropic activities also includes a joint PhD programme which we run in collaboration with the Ramboll Group.
