The Ramboll Foundation Award
The Ramboll Foundation Award is awarded to a young scientist whose work represents extraordinary contributions to sustainable development in a particular field of research. The award is given to an individual scientist with university affiliation. Institutions or projects are excluded, as are Ramboll’s own employees.
The most recent subject of the award was “loss of biodiversity”.
Bridging the gap between biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation
Restoring biodiversity had never been more imperative than now. In just over 40 years, global populations of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians have declined by almost 60%, while 40% of plant species are at risk of extinction.
The key drivers of biodiversity loss include climate change, pollution, habitat destruction, invasive species, and overexploitation of the natural environment. Left unchecked, countless species will be lost forever, while taking a heavy toll on human health and wellbeing.
The Ramboll Foundation therefore called on researchers specialised in the area of bridging the gap between climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation.
Candidates for the Ramboll Foundation Award are identified by Ramboll experts and invited to submit a proposal. The award decision will be taken by an evaluation committee consisting of representatives from the Ramboll Foundation and Ramboll experts within the subject.
The Ramboll Foundation Award was previously known as the Flemming Bligaard Award, which was named in honour of former Ramboll CEO and chairman of the Ramboll Foundation.
