We support
The Ramboll Foundation wishes to promote a sustainable and innovative development for the benefit of nature, society, and people.
Shaping a sustainable future together
Ramboll was founded in 1945, when a world war was over, and a better society needed to be rebuilt. The Ramboll Foundation, as the owner of Ramboll, aims to make a positive difference in our society through our ownership of Ramboll and through our philanthropy by supporting the knowledge-creation to leverage innovation and engagement.
- We work for a better society for people and nature.
- We aim to contribute by addressing the major crises facing society with a regenerative approach that supports and rebuilds.
- We insist on actively engaging Ramboll employees and relevant partners in bringing together different ideas, talents, and perspectives to tackle societal challenges.
Mission-driven philanthropy
The philanthropic activities of the Ramboll Foundation span across an array of approaches and utilise multiple grant-giving instruments. The Ramboll Foundation primarily provides grants and builds partnerships within three missions and within Ramboll's geographies. The Foundation's mission-driven approach helps ensure maximum impact, relevance, and visibility within areas of significant societal importance. The three missions are:
- Regenerative rebuilding.
- The built environment.
- Resource management.
In working with all three missions, the Foundation will take a long-term and catalytic approach to creating impact by supporting development and dissemination of knowledge and best practices.
Opportunity-driven global grants
The legacy of our founders was one of caring for those in need and engaging the employees in Ramboll. In addition to our focused philanthropic missions, we operate within two global support areas, where our philanthropy will be driven by opportunities rather than defined missions. These areas are:
- Aid in emergencies and crises.
- Employee-involving initiatives.
The Ramboll Foundation can address acute crises in society through direct donations. Crises may include natural disasters and human-made crises, and a non-acute crisis may be mitigated through a mission-driven initiative.
Employees in need
In addition to our society-supporting philanthropy, we also support individual current and former Ramboll employees in need. Applications for employee grants should be submitted by the people manager of the beneficiary with support by a local Managing Director. If you are a Ramboll employee, please reach out to your local HR representative for more information.
Applying for funding from the Ramboll Foundation
From January 2025, we will be phasing in our new philanthropy strategy and reduce the funding available for application-driven projects, while increasing the funding available for our long-term partners working within our missions.
Until further notice, we however still accept applications using our online application form, where we require the applicant to elaborate on how the project supports one or more of our missions. The Foundation has a preference for projects within our missions that create scalable knowledge (rather than implementation) and engage Ramboll employees as experts and is focused on Ramboll geographies.
- We do not accept applications for partnerships, as we identify and negotiate these through internal processes.
- Neither do we accept applications for aid in emergencies and crises, as these opportunities are also identified through internal processes.
Therefore, you can only apply for funding to mission-driven activities.
