Wednesday this week, the Ramboll Foundation, Ramboll, and UC Berkeley gathered leaders from global businesses founded in the Nordics and the U.S. to discuss how to best balance profitability with purpose and drive positive social, environmental, and economic growth.
While the traditional economic system and business model often prioritises profit and growth above all else, typically focusing on short-term shareholder value, the Ramboll Foundation, as an enterprise foundation, centres our ownership model on long-term, value-based decision-making and sustainable development.
The Ramboll Foundation is also guided by a strong societal purpose of pursuing opportunities to mitigate challenges facing people and society by being a proactive and catalytic philanthropist with a strong legacy of acting decently and responsibly.
We also examined the cultural factors in the Nordics and U.S. that promote sustainable capitalism, and how these are impacting and incentivising business structures, profit models, and value and performance measures.
Following the roundtable, Ramboll and UC Berkeley will co-publish a thought leadership piece summarising key insights and identifying future areas for discussion and action.
